As we
look toward the Festival of Preaching NW 2012, we anticipate an event as
rich, powerful, exciting, refreshing and, well, fun as the first Festival in
2010.
Several qualities of the Festival of Preaching NW that make it different than other Festivals of this type include the following:
- Preachers all preach/ speak on more than one occasion and are present throughout the Festival, including meals, for informal conversation opportunities. This is not a "fly by," where people preach one sermon and take off. We are a community of worship and practice.
- In addition to well-known, widely respected and seasoned preachers, this Festival includes less well known and highly promising, young preachers. This provides younger pastors and seminary students models in their own age cohort.
- While we welcome professors as speakers, we make a special effort to bring practicing pastors who are in the pulpit Sunday by Sunday and understand preaching in the context of a community of faith and mission.
These distinctive characteristics of Festival of Preaching Northwest, as well as its location in the beautiful Northwest with its early spring, make this a Festival you don't want to miss!
